| Looked fabuous for my Beverly Hill High School Reunion From: Hedda Lettuce 8/13/2009 2:06:38 PM I have been going to Lance for years, my High School reunion was coming up and was in need of a total makeover. Cristopher suggested the Makeover Special, which includes Haircut, Color and Makeup ALSO you get a 10% discount, so i said WHY NOT! Lance colored my hair a milk chocolate brown with honey gold highlights which worked so well with my new trendy layered bob. And Reba transformed my usual none make up self into a stunning diva! My face was flawless with the appearance of no wrinkles, no age spots and my skin looked soft and even. I had Julie Newmar cateyes with false eyelashes and my lips were lined and glossed creating a full plump affect! My goodness everyone at my reunion couldn't believe their eyes! They said i haven't aged a bit and wanted to know my secrets! | hair salon in san fernando valley From: lina 8/2/2009 I have been going to a salon in the Valley for about 6 months now, and about two months ago, I decided to get highlights done. My dark brown soft hair has turned into this blonde, frizzy, falling out mess. I cannot run a brush through my hair anymore without a clump of hair being left behind! I have been trying to grow out my hair and now the roots look awful and I just don't know what to do. How soon is too soon to recolor? I saw the makeovers you have done, and I would like to have hair that looks like them. Is coloring included in the 50% off for new clients? Comment on this posting. |

Meg Ryan straight hair with those flicky flips is out. Flat hair is out. Not only is straightened hair out, it costs a lot of money. A Japanese straightener can cost upwards of $700. Even for those of you who cannot afford that type of service, straightening hair can be very time-consuming. Straightening your hair every single day is boring. The process takes up a lot of valuable time that can be spent doing more important things. Now, I'm not saying your hair is not important. Of course it is! It's not that important, however, if you are busy rockin' an old hair style. Fortunately, creating texture and body for your hair is in. The Hollywood glamour girl look is back! You can see these loose curls on celebrities like all the Jessicas—Simpson, Alba, and Sarah Jessica Parker. Oh, let's not forget The OC star Rachel Bilson, who in spite of not being a Jessica is now famous for those bountiful curls. More and more of your favorite female celebrities are being seen wearing the long loose curls. You would have to ask these celebrities personally (good luck on that one) how they accomplish this beautiful look because there are two amazing ways to get the look. The first way you can achieve this modern look is with a permanent solution. To achieve the natural beauty of the modern perm, you must follow a specific technique. You will be utilizing the two largest-sized perm rods. Normally, the color of the rod corresponds with the size of the rod. The two largest sized rods in the hair industry are orange/peach colored rods. I also recommend the extra long purple rods called "Super Rollers". They are easy to use, very flexible, perfect for perming, and will not absorb any type of perm solution. You can pick up any of these rods at a Sally Beauty Supply, which are located all over the United States. Take a rod and wind a section of hair around it in a spiral fashion, beginning at the tips of the hair. Don't wind all the way—stop approximately two inches from the roots of your hair. Alternate the two rod sizes next to each other, creating interest and fullness in your hair style. Let the rods hang vertically for that cool curl look. As for the permanent solution itself, find one that is appropriate for you by hair type. Don't buy a brand if they don't have one for your hair type—virgin hair or colored, bleached, fine or thick, and so on. Then, follow the directions on the box to the T when preparing it and applying it to the rods. I don't recommend that you do this yourself, unless you're very talented with your hands and can follow directions well. Even a friend who is good with his or her hands could do this for you. Better still, show this article to your hairdresser, who should understand right away what we're talking about. Don't fret! This is not the same type of perm that you remember from the 1980s. In the 80s, there was only one type of perm. This perm was a hard core chemical treatment. Women were damaging their hair with primitive chemicals. Some of these women were frying their hair over and over again. In today's era of healthy living, perms are more natural and gentle on your scalp, but more importantly for your hair. Perm solutions these days include less ammonia and more softer ingredients. The Lance Christopher Salon currently uses Wella brand perm solution, which is also used by many salons across the U.S. In addition to getting a permanent solution, you can also achieve this great look by simply styling your hair. Curling irons and round brushes are normally the easiest tools used to attain this modern look. Again, specific techniques are used by stylists to perfect your hair, and they are professionally trained to do so. Today, there are many different types of perms for different types of hair. Ask your local salon about a perm that could work for you! If you are not interested in permanently perming your hair, but still want to reflect the Hollywood style for a special night on the town, you can ask your local stylist for a style to achieve this look. Explain to him/her that you want long loose curls, and they will know exactly that you are going for. | Winter Hair Trends From: Lance Christopher 2/16/2009 12:40:19 PM Winter Hair Trends There's a slight chill in the air and the sun is setting a tad earlier, which means it's time to wave buh-bye to long summer nights and the messy, effortless hair we embraced during the hot, hot months. We in Southern California, for lack of seasons, might be able to pull off wearing pieces of our summer wardrobe clear into Halloween, but that's just to cope with the So-Cal heat. What about our summer hair?! To those who fall on the hip side of L.A., the end of summer means it's time to ditch your summer 'do. So what do you do with the beach-blonde locks and the grown-out tresses you spent all summer trying to achieve? Leave that look at the beach—it'll be there waiting for you in the Spring. For now, Logan—hair trend guru, hair stylist and color expert for the Lance Christopher Salon in Beverly Hills—lays down the hair law and gives some much needed advice on transitioning into the fall. Color Block coloring with subtle highlights is in. Colors should be multi-dimensional—they should blend with each other, not be streaky or bleached-looking. Use more than one color, within a few shades of each other—the colors should co-exist without having to fight for attention. Coloring should be done to your whole head—partials are out. The old inland trend of platinum on the top and dark in the under layers is, as Logan puts it, "Beauty school hair—if it looks like it was done at hair school, keep it there." Girls with darker hair, and who want to keep it, should weave in darker colors within a shade or two of each other for the multi-dimensional look. Flat hair color is out, but was it ever really in? Logan's pick as hair color winner among celebrities is Mariah Carey. "Mariah, as trashy as she is, still looks classy by choosing color tones that are within three levels of each other." Curls, Curls, Curls—They're Back! Long, loose waves by day and bouncy, flowing curls by night is the trend of the summer that is being taken into the fall—why? Because it looks so good. Girls should choose to have wavier hair than curly, and this fall it's all about the body wave. Hair permanents are back. If you can conquer your perm fear and put your "home perm done by yo' mama back in the day" looks far behind you, then you might just want consider getting a perm. Modern science and a slew of chemists have granted us the gift of waves that give to the hair and do not take away. The chemicals contain more conditioning ingredients and are far less damaging. If you want both wavy and straight hair, you might still want to consider getting a perm. It's easier and far less damaging to go from wavy/curly hair to straight hair than vice versa—no matter what they say. Reasons being: you use less product and there's little damage, while straight to curly girls use more product for a curl that might not last through the night. Logan's celebrity picks for curly hair: Jessica Simpson, Terry Hatcher, and Amy Brenneman. "Stay away from the 80s 'Sarah Jessica Parker' curly home perm. Get it done professionally." Bangs There are so many cute ways to wear bangs, and they look good on just about everyone; so, according to Logan, here are the bangs you should stay away from. Early 90s "Jennifer Aniston" bangs. These are bangs that frame your face equally on both sides. It's an outdated cut that looked great when Jennifer had them. Let your mom have this look. Baby-doll, straight-edge bangs¬. These are the bangs that are cut straight across your forehead. Some girls curl them under, some wear them straight and flat; but if you're older than 14 and younger than 80, you should lose the look. The only girls they look good on are theme girls. That means goth girls or indie girls. Everyone else need not apply. Boy bangs. The name says it all. If you have bangs that look like they came straight from a boy band style guide, ditch them fast. Bang girls should navigate toward: Come-kiss-me bangs (long bangs). These are the bangs that curve to your lip. They're long bangs worn with side parts and they point right to your kisser to accentuate your lips. It's a good transitional look if you're growing out your bangs and waiting for that bang-less look. Come-hither bangs (Medium bangs). These bangs are side-swept and cover part of the eye. Celebs like Nicole Richie and Ashlee Simpson have been sporting these bangs lately. With this look, "you can get the guy from across the bar to come over to you without actually having to look at him," asserts Logan. Fierce-and-you-know-it bangs (short bangs). These bangs are shorter than the previous two and a little more diagonal, and can still be worn side-swept or fully down. This look is for girls who love bangs and who know they look good with them. Celebs who have dared to wear this look include Missy Elliot and Jessica Simpson. Long Hair Girls with long hair have often opted for the choppy notice-my-layers cut. That's not going to work for the fall. Layers should be long and almost invisible. This should be the cut that says, "now you see me, now you don't." These layers should be blend-able and should only stand out if you want them to, not because they have nowhere else to go. Logan's pick among long-layered celebrities is Lindsay Lohan. Centered Looks Transition is the theme for the season and the cut and color must comply. Hair that is drastic or complicated is just not going to work, but neither is dull, boring hair. The key to looking good this season is to be centered about your look. Not too dark, not too light.
